New release: Lyon Display by Kai Bernau

RELEASES | 22 JUNE 2010

Commercial Type are pleased to announce the release of Lyon Display, a new serif display typeface in 5 weights, designed by Kai Bernau as a headline companion for his Lyon Text family. Lyon is a contemporary interpretation of French Renaissance type forms, particularly the work of punchcutter Robert Granjon, who was active in the 16th century and whose work still remains a touchstone for serif type to this day. Lyon Display debuted simultaneously in Michael Stanaland's redesign of Roll Call, a daily newspaper published for the US Congress and Capitol Hill staffers, and Middle East-centric arts quarterly Bidoun, redesigned by Andy Pressman of Brooklyn-based design studio Rumors.
